Prologue

One year later and here we are
on the cusp of another journey afar

This route will show us what’s west of Britain
From the photos I’ve seen I’m already smitten

With steep cliffs and rugged coastlines
scenery is where Ireland really shines

It rains a lot here as I understand
and an ocean breeze is always at hand

The rolling green hills are dotted with sheep
while some climbs appear to be fairly steep

Adventures like this are the kind I like
seeing it all from the seat of a bike

County Cork will be our starting place
I’ll be taking my time, it’s not a race

Whatever we encounter on this bike tour
I’m looking forward to what’s in store

Seven days in a row without a rest
is a challenge for me but I’ll do my best

Months of planning have led me here
It’s time to get this trip in gear!
