I decide to take it easy this morning and have a more leisurely departure, since it’s my last cycling day on this tour and it’s a fairly short ride. I leave in heavy fog but it soon burns off and turns into a beautiful day.
I take a break after 50 km and study the map. There’s nowhere to stop on this route (how many times have I said that?) which means I have to be careful to ration my water.
There are two options for getting to Drumheller. One is slightly longer and involves a ferry, so I opt for the shorter route. The scenery on the prairies is very pleasant and calming, but it can get a little dull after a while. Taking photos helps pass the time.
A fast descent into the Red Deer River Valley brings me to the outskirts of Drumheller. Suddenly I’m back in the desert.
Horseflies are prevalent here and they keep biting me while I’m pedalling. Ironically, my choice of the shorter route results in my missing a critical turn, making my ride 10 km longer than it should be.
This is another nice campground. It’s not far from the Tyrrell Museum which is where I’m headed tomorrow.
I’m still a bit stunned that I made it here intact. Thank you all for your words of encouragement. It really means a lot.

Congratulations Lynn on your arrival into Drumheller!! A trip to remember for sure. Have a great day tomorrow:)
Thanks Linsie! In some ways it’s a relief to finish, but it’s also hard to leave the group after spending two weeks with them. A fun trip nonetheless!
Congrats on completing your tour! You’ve done some serious mileage in tough conditions, thanks for sharing it with all of us armchair bikers!
Thanks Tom! Glad you could follow along. I enjoyed sharing the day to day happenings.
