I get to the 7-Eleven just after it opens and buy two litres of iced tea and two litres of orange juice. I’m also trying to eat more today, particularly in the morning before the heat saps my appetite.
My one-person tent is working out well. I thought it might feel too small but it seems just right for this trip.
I walk to the laundromat and get that started, then I drop by the bike shop. I buy some chain lube which I forgot to bring from home and get another spare tube to replace the one I used yesterday.
I get back to camp before 10 and spend the rest of the day in the shade. It’s still ridiculously hot and tomorrow’s forecast is more of the same. I’ll be leaving very, very early.

Wishing you a safe journey
Keep hydrated the best you can and keep those great photos coming.
Best wishes from hot Ontario
Thanks John! I hope you’re able to keep cool.
We continue praying for you and since I shared your fb post, several others are also praying for you! I trust you’ll keep hydrated and safe as you do this major journey! You’ll be talking about this trip for years! It’s hot here but not as hot as there! Stay safe, my friend!
Thanks Brenda! This will be a memorable trip indeed. We were climbing the Coquihalla the same day that nearby they recorded the highest temperature ever in Canada. What are the odds?
